The build-up to SA20 Season 4 has officially begun. All six teams have announced their list of retained and pre-signed players ahead of the auction, which will take place on September 9 in Johannesburg.Â
Each team was allowed to hold on to six players during the retention window that closed on July 18. These six spots could include up to three South African players and as many overseas stars. Each franchise made one Wildcard signing, a player who was part of their squad in the previous season.
With the retention business done, the focus now moves to the auction. A total of 84 players will go under the hammer, and the teams have a combined budget of USD 7.4 million to spend.

Andre Russell to Make SA20 Debut, Faf du Plessis Retained by Joburg Super KingsÂ
Some big names have been confirmed for Season 4. Andre Russell will feature in the league for the first time after being signed as a Wildcard by Pretoria Capitals. His power-hitting and all-round skills make him one of the most exciting picks.
Joburg Super Kings have once again retained Faf du Plessis, who brings leadership and calmness at the top. MI Cape Town made sure to hold on to their captain Rashid Khan and Trent Boult, while also signing Nicholas Pooran.
Sunrisers Eastern Cape released Aiden Markram and locked in Jonny Bairstow, Tristan Stubbs, Marco Jansen along with other names. Durban Super Giants also signed some big names such as Jos Buttler, Heinrich Klaasen, Noor Shmad and Sunil Narine
Paarl Royals retained David Miller. Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Sikandar Raza also feature in their squad.
