Indian skipper Shubman Gill has been having a tough Test series as captain. He was named the new Test skipper ahead of the England series. He has found ytest captaincy tough as he has found out in the series so far.
Despite his team being in front in different sessions across the Test match, the scoreline reads in favour of England a the moment. India lost Test matches at Headingley and Lord’s despite being ahead in the game for most part of it.
India lost the toss yet again in Manchester and was asked to bat first by England again. They had an opening stand of 74 runs in the first session without losing a wicket.

However, India lost the wickets of KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal almost immediately after lunch in quick succession. Shubman Gill walked out to bat at four after the loss of Jaiswal’s wicket just after he scored his half century.
Meanwhile, as per reports circling across social media, the Indian skipper was booed by the Manchester crowd as soon as he was dismissed. To make matters worse, he was dismissed cheaply after being dismissed by opposition skipper Ben Stokes LBW for 12 runs off 23 balls.
The delivery from Ben Stokes angled into Gill’s pads. He did not offer a shot to a delivery that was coming in as he misjudged the line of the ball. Stokes made a loud appeal and the umpire ruled the decision in his favour. Gill reviewed the decision only for it to be upheld on the DRS replay. What followed was an animated reaction from Stokes, almost giving it back to Gill. The Indian skipper had to take the long walk back to the pavillion.
What Exacty Did Gill Say In The Press Conference
Gill, in the pre-match press conference, spoke about England’s time-wasting tactics in the Lord’s Test and accused the England players of violating the spirit of the game in the third Test.
“A lot of people have been talking about it, so let me just clear the air once and for all. The English batsmen on that day had seven minutes of play left, they were 90 seconds late to come to the crease. Not 10, not 20 — 90 seconds late” the Indian skipper said.
