Shubman Gill-Sai Sudharshan added a 120-run stand

Gujarat Titans (GT), after being put into bat first by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper Rishabh Pant, scored 180 runs for six wickets after their 20 overs. The Super Giants are playing at home and have managed to restrict the Titans to below 200 runs.

The foundation for GT's total was laid by Shubman Gill (60 runs off 38 balls) and Sai Sudharshan (56 runs off 37 balls). The duo notched up the first 100-run stand of the tournament so far. In the process, the duo showed their consistency with the bat too.

While Gill and Sudharshan were batting, the LSG seamers, especially, travelled the distance. There were too many loose balls bowled inside the powerplay. The duo added a 54-run stand inside the powerplay and added another 66 runs outside the powerplay.

Gill-Sudharshan Yet Again Gives GT The Perfect Start

The break for LSG came in the 12th over when Gill was dismissed by Avesh Khan. While trying to play a big shot, the GT skipper was caught at the long-on boundary by Aiden Markram. Gill's wicket gave LSG a perfect opening as they made a comeback into the contest. From being 120 runs for no loss, GT went down to 127 runs for 3 wickets. After Gill's wicket, Sai Sudharshan (56 runs off 37 balls) and Washington Sundar (2 runs off 3 balls) were dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi. He bowled a spell where he took two wickets, giving away 32 runs. His fellow spinner, Digvesh Rathi, took one wicket, giving away 30 runs off his four overs.

After a brief partnership between Jos Buttler (16 runs off 14 balls) and Sherfane Rutherford (22 runs off 19 balls), Rathi came back to dismiss Jos Buttler in the 17th over. The wicket of Buttler was another massive breakthrough for the Titans.

After the good start, the regular loss of wickets in the second half of the innings did not give any momentum to GT's innings. The pitch seemed to turn more in the second half, with many balls stopping and the batters getting through their shots early. A few lusty hits from Rutherford in the final three overs took the Titans past 150 runs and helped them post a total of 180 runs in their 20 overs in the end.

Shardul Thakur, bowling the final over of the innings, took two wickets. He ended his spell with two wickets for 34 runs. It was overall a good bowling display by the LSG bowlers, who were amongst the wickets as well. The Super Giants now need to score 181 runs to win their fourth game of the season.
