Former India cricketer Dinesh Karthik has addressed the social media buzz around Jitesh Sharma’s viral video from Lord’s, where the latter appeared to be stopped by a security guard. Karthik, who is part of the commentary team for the England-India Test series, clarified that there was no issue with entry and that Jitesh had been invited by him to the commentary box.
The video showed Jitesh standing outside the gate, talking with a security guard who appeared to be denying him entry into the stadium. He was also seen calling Karthik. At first, Karthik didn’t hear him, but after noticing him, he came to Jitesh, who was then allowed to enter the stadium.
The video caused confusion on social media, with people saying Jitesh Sharma was denied entry. This was denied by Karthik.

Dinesh Karthik Responds to Jitesh Sharma Entry Drama at Lord’s
Karthik clarified the situation soon after. He explained that the entrance in question was not the main gate of Lord’s but the entry below the media centre, which is a restricted area for general visitors. Since Jitesh had been invited by Karthik, there was no issue once he arrived and the two proceeded inside together.
"These are some issues with social media that a lot face. I invited Jitesh to the comm box, he had come, and I came and met him down and took him to the comm box and he met everyone there. Btw this is below the media center, not the entrance to the ground," Karthik wrote on X.
His reply made it clear that there was no issue between Jitesh and the ground staff. It was just a misunderstanding.
Jitesh recently moved from Vidarbha to Baroda for the upcoming season. He has played nine T20Is for India and was part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) IPL 2025 title win. Notably, Karthik is currently the mentor of RCB.
England Edge Past India in Lord’s Thriller
While the off-field moment created a buzz, the third Test at Lord’s produced drama of its own. England beat India by 22 runs in the third Test at Lord’s to take a 2-1 lead in the series.
India were chasing 193 and started the final day at 58/4. KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant were at the crease but England picked up early wickets. India slipped to 82/7 before Ravindra Jadeja and Nitish Kumar Reddy fought back. Reddy was dismissed just before lunch. Jadeja kept going with help from Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj but the team fell short as they got all out for 170.
India will now look to bounce back in the fourth Test, starting July 23 at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.
