India's ODI skipper Rohit Sharma is set to make a grand return in India A's unofficial ODI series against Australia A Down Under. If sources are to be believed, the star batter is eying these matches as a warm-up fr the upcoming ODI series against Australia, starting on October 19. The 38-year-old last featured for India in the title winning Champions Trophy campaign, where he played a starring role in the finals against New Zealand to help India win their third CT title.
Ever since that match, the skipper has not played an international match, as he has retired from T20Is and Tests. ODI is the only format he is active. According to the RevSportz report, the veteran batter is eager to stamp his class and show the world that he still owns the 50-over format in the unofficial ODI series against Australia A. Also, another point would be Rohit's ranking in ODIs, which is currently in the second spot. The Mumbai batter would be keen to attain the top position in the ICC ODI Rankings for batters.

The series against Australia gives Rohit Sharma a golden chance to be at the top, that too at the age of 38, which a lot of players can only dream of. Over the past three years, the 38-year-old has completely adopted a fearless approach in the power play that has paved the way for other batters. His strike rate of over 100 in ODIs has enabled India to post huge scores.

Notably, India will play three ODIs against Australia, which potentially could also see the last of Rohit in the 50-over format. There are swirling rumors that this could potentially be the last ODI series for the veteran batter. The Ajit Agarkar-led panel is planning to phase out him & Virat Kohli ahead of the ODI World Cup 2027 event. The selectors are keen to groom young players for the showpiece event.
