Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf copped a heavy blow in the second ODI against New Zealand at Hamilton on Wednesday, April 3. Pakistan lost the match by 84 runs and now are trailing 0-2 in the series.
Haris Rauf suffered the injury while batting. He was hit on his helmet by a bouncer from William O'Rourke, after which he was declared retired hurt and left the field. Naseem Shah replaced him as the concussion sub in the XI.
Rauf had scored nine runs off three balls before he left the field, retired hurt. Meanwhile, Naseem flourished with the bat, scoring 51 runs off 44 balls but could not do the job for the side. Pakistan was bowled out for 208 runs in the 42nd over.

New Zealand posted a mammoth 292/8 with the bat. Mitchell Hay, the keeper-batter, scored an unbeaten 99-run knock and played a big role in helping the team reach that total. Muhammad Abbas, the Pakistani-origin cricketer, scored 41 runs off 66 balls after the top-order scored in their 20s and 30s, respectively.
Before getting injured while batting, Rauf bowled a spell of 1 wicket for 75 runs. Mohammad Wasim Junior and Sufiyan Muqeem took two wickets respectively.
With the bat in the chase, it was a disappointing effort from the Pakistan batters. Only four of their batters scored in double digits, with Naseem top-scoring with 51 runs off 44 balls in the chase. The top five batters scored in single digits, as it was a disappointing batting performance from the Men in Green. In the end, they were bowled out for 208 runs, falling short by 84 runs in the chase.
Pakistan was fined for a slow over-rate after their loss to the Kiwis in the second ODI. The team was fined 10 percent of their match fee by the ICC for the offense. The third and final ODI will be played on Saturday, April 5 at Mount Maunganui.
