Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are taking on Chennai Super Giants (CSK) in yet another home game in the IPL 2025. CSK won the toss and opted to bowl first.
Heading into this game, LSG are on a three-match winning run. CSK, on the other hand, have lost five games so far in the season and re looking for a turnaround.
CSK skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to bat first. His bowlers responded to his call by taking two wickets inside the powerplay. Aiden Markram (6 runs off 6 balls) fell to Khaleel Ahmed as Rahul Tripathi took a brilliant running catch.

Rahul Tripathi's Catch Gives CSK Aiden Markram's Wicket
Tripathi ran more than 25 yards to complete the catch and give CSK an early breakthrough. Chennai have not taken their catches in the previous games. However, this catch by Tripathi will lift his side.
The big breakthrough for CSK was provided by Anshul Kamboj who dismissed Nicholas Pooran cheaply. Pooran scored 8 runs off 9 balls hitting two fours. A change of pace from Kamboj made the southpaw play across the line.
MS Dhoni was not initially interested in taking the rview but eventually, he did and it paid off. The replays showed that the ball was hitting the stumps. For once, Pooran who is leading the Orange Cap race in IPL 2025 is dismissed cheaply. After his dismissal, he has scored 357 runs in seven matches at an average of 59.50 and a strike rate of 208.77.
Pooran's dismissal brought out LSG skipper Rishabh Pant at number four. So far he has scored and has scored his highest score in the tournament so far. With Mitchell Marsh (30 runs off 24 balls), he has already added 45 runs from 30 balls since Pooran's dismissal. Marsh was dismissed in the first delivery of the 10th over from Ravindra Jadeja as CSK kept chipping away with the wickets in the first 10 overs. Meanwhile, Pant (29 off 20 balls) reached his highest score in this season so far.
CSK, are under pressure to make a turnaround in their campaign. Previously, Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the remainder of the season with MS Dhoni named as the captain for the remaining season. He lost his first game as captain against KKR.
