Lucknow Super Giants have faced another setback as their seamer, Mayank Yadav, has picked up yet another injury. As a result, they have announced Kiwi seamer William O’Rourke as his replacement.
Another Setback for Mayank Yadav as Injury Rules Him Out
Mayank Yadav had recently returned from a long-term injury but has now been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to this latest setback. He has been an impressive find for the Lucknow Super Giants in 2024; however, his injury concerns have hindered his performance. Last season, he topped the speed chart with a fastest ball of 156.7 kph, the quickest by an Indian bowler in the tournament.

Unfortunately, since his return this season, Mayank Yadav has struggled with his pace, rarely exceeding 140 kph in the two matches he played. When addressing this pace issue, he mentioned that he was taking it slow to manage his fitness. Sadly, he has now suffered another injury, ruling him out for the rest of the season.
In an official statement shared by the IPL committee, it was announced:
"Lucknow Super Giants have roped in New Zealand pacer William O'Rourke as an injury replacement for Mayank Yadav. Yadav sustained a back injury and is ruled out for the remainder of the season. William O'Rourke will join the squad at a reserve price of 3 crore," said the IPL.
William O'Rourke joins for 3 crore
William O’Rourke was acquired for 3 crore by the LSG camp. The Kiwi bowler has ample experience bowling in India, having played a key role during New Zealand's recent tour in 2024, where they achieved a historic 3-0 whitewash against India.

Lucknow Super Giants still have an outside chance of qualifying for the playoffs. Currently, they have 10 points from 11 matches and will resume their quest for playoff qualification against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday, May 19th.
