Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has already made an impact with the ball in the first Test at Headingley. He took five wickets for 83 runs in England's first innings total of 465.
Bumrah broke a few records in the process and showed the world how big a part he is of this Indian bowling attack. The rest of the bowlers did contribute on day 3, but they could not prevent England from scoring big.
The Indian team is currently batting on day 4 with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj cooling their heels. They would want their batters to bat as long as possible and score as much as possible to challenge England on day 5.
Gavaskar, Pujara Want Bumrah To Play All Five Tests
Meanwhile, there has already been enough talks about Jasprit Bumrah playing three out of the five Test matches against England. Bumrah has also revealed the reason behind this thought process adding that he has been careful about his body since his recent back injury in the series against Australia.
However, former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar and batter Cheteshwar Pujara, in a jovial mood, requested Sanjana Ganesan on Sony Sports to persuade Bumrah to play all five Test matches.
"I have a request for you. You will have to convince Jasprit to play a few more games. Just try. You are the one who can convince, we leave it to you," Pujara said on Sony Sports Network.
"There is gap. See, there is an eight-day gap, so the next Test is not a problem, and then after that it is Lord's, you can't miss Lord's. After that, again, there is an eight-day gap. Then comes Manchester. In Manchester, the ball will do all kinds of things, whether it is April, May, June, July, August, September, October, or November, the ball will swing in Manchester. Then at The Oval, it is just five days, so all five Test matches. I hope he is watching this. Basically, Jasprit, we need you. Please play all five Tests," Gavaskar kept his request as well.
Jasprit Bumrah - The Number One-Ranked Test Bowler
Bumrah, the number-one ranked Test bowler, has been playing continuous cricket since the IPL. He is currently playing the first Test and has already made a heroic contribution with the ball, taking a fifer in the first innings. India needs Bumrah in the second innings as well with England looking to chase down anything posted by India.
