The West Indies, chasing 245 runs to win, fell short by 11 runs as they were bowled out for 233 runs in the match by Scotland. This remains one of the most glorified wins for the Scottish women's side against the Windies women.

It was the partnership between Zaida James (45 runs off 89 balls) and Matthews that brought the side back into the game. The duo added 113 runs for the second wicket, taking the team through to 120 runs. James was dismissed with the team's score at 120 runs.
The West Indies then had a batting collapse as they lost wickets at regular intervals, losing the momentum in the run chase in the process. Three batters in the middle order were dismissed for single-digit scores. All three tail-enders were dismissed for ducks. After James' 45 runs off 89 balls, the next best score was from Aaliyah Alleyne, scoring 23 runs off 17 balls. Big-hitting all-rounder Chinelle Henry scored 12 runs off three balls, including two sixes, giving a minor scare. However, her innings was cut short by Abtaha Maqsood, who got her stumped.
It was a big effort from the Scottish bowlers, who defended the total successfully. Katherine Fraser picked up three wickets for 50 runs. Abtaha Maqsood took two wickets for 60 runs. Chloe Abel took two wickets for 31 runs. Skipper Kathryn Bryce took one wicket for 31 runs. Darcey Carter picked up one wicket for 10 runs in her four overs.
Overall, it was an incredible effort from the Scottish bowlers as they successfully defended the middling total and got a winning start in the tournament.
