The promo confused fans, many of whom took to social media seeking clarity. Some still believe India might boycott the Asia Cup, while others suspect Pakistan may pull out. However, BCCI secretary Devajit Sakaria has denied any plans of India withdrawing from the tournament.

“Since this morning, it has come to our notice about some news reports that the BCCI has decided not to participate in the Asia Cup and the Women's Emerging Teams Asia Cup, both of which are ACC events. BCCI has not even discussed or taken any such steps regarding the ensuing ACC events, let alone writing anything to the ACC” said BCCI Secretary

Asia Cup in Doubt, PCB Eyes UAE-Afghanistan Tri-Series

Meanwhile, the Asian Cricket Council is currently headed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi, who has already prepared a alternate plan in case India opts out. The PCB is in talks with Afghanistan and the UAE to organise a tri-series as an alternative.

"With the Asia Cup now unlikely to be held in India as originally planned in September, due to the simmering relations between Pakistan and India, the PCB is working on another tri-series proposal," as per source.

India, as the current host, will ultimately decide the fate of the tournament. If the Asia Cup is moved to the UAE, the PCB plans to replace Pakistan’s scheduled home series against Afghanistan with a tri-series involving Afghanistan and the UAE in Dubai this August.

The source added that the PCB is already in discussions with both boards to organise the potential series.

"If the Asia Cup is cancelled or postponed, the PCB wants the Afghanistan and UAE teams to play the tri-series in Pakistan in August," the source was quoted as saying by NDTV.
